Extra-services (on demand): waiters, menservants, physiotherapy (to relax), baby-sitting, helicopter flights, convention with a riding-school, meals with typical dishes from Lucca. From the front door, you enter in a big and sunny living room, with the typical Tuscan roof and floor, which give the guests a warm welcome. In the living room there is a nice fireplace and a big table, where you can have tasty meals and happy parties, while big vault windows offer a view on the green olive trees and on the blue sky… Comfortable sofas, carpets, pictures and old pieces of furniture give a special touch to this room, where you can rest, read, or day-dream. The furniture in the kitchen is of genuine chestnut heartwood, an authentic “fortress” of crockery, kitchen utensils, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, cooking area, and stainless steel sink which is set on the strong pink granite, an ideal top to feel the experience of a high quality cook. In the cupboard, guests will find extra-virgin olive oil, made with the olives of Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo, wine of the hills surrounding Lucca, jams, and tastes of a variety of local cheeses and cold cuts which will be a delightful surprise for your palate. As Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo is just 30 minutes from the famous Versilia seaside, the climate is temperate so it is very nice and inviting to have dinner or an aperitif in the veranda, where you can enjoy your meals and have a charming view on the countryside. In a few minutes from Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo you can reach Lucca, a beautiful town well known for the charming town walls which surround the town centre, and where you can have an healthy walk on, of more than 4 Km. From the walls, you can enjoy a wonderful view on the most important buildings of Lucca: the cathedral of S. Martino, the roman amphitheatre, the church of S. Michele with the enchanting square, Piazza Napoleone (where in summer takes place the famous “Summer Festival”, with important singers coming from all over the world). From Lucca, by motorway or by train, it is easy to reach other Tuscan towns as Pisa, Siena and Firenze, very important from the historical and cultural point of view. In a few minutes by car, it is possible to reach the seaside, Versilia, with the famous and lively town of Forte Dei Marmi, full of pubs, restaurants, and much appreciated by the Italian jet set too, coming here on holidays. If you prefer the mountain, in nearly one hour you can reach the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, with nice and charming places as Parco dell’Orecchiella and Abetone, where you can ski in winter and breath fresh air in summer. Near Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo there is a big choice of typical restaurants. To “Alla Cantina Di Alfredo” you can have a tasty “bistecca fiorentina”, a steak served with baked beans. The village is located on the ridge and on the slopes of a hill, at the end of “Monti Pisani” that goes down until Sesto marsh. The inhabitants of San Ginese live in a lot of small groups of houses called “ceppi”, as Marchetti, Lecci, Collina, Centoni, Porto, Villa (where there is Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo), Pierini and Castello in an overlooking position… The exact address of Al Podere di Nonno Giulivo is: Via di Villa, 50 – 55060 San Ginese di Compito (Lucca).
